Marcos Elias

Who is Marcos Elias?

Marcos Eduardo Elias, born 16 May 1971 in São Paulo, Brazil, is a financier, coder, philanthropist and robotics engineer. He gained notoriety as a stock analyst, and thereafter, as a fund manager. He currently owns and manages Benchmark Brazil, focused in developing and implementing HFT/Algorithmic trading systems. He is also a partner and managing director at Gradual Investimentos.

In 2006, he has solely founded Galleas Asset Management, a midcap dedicated asset management firm, and, by 2009, Empiricus Research, first Brazilian equity research house independent of financial institutions. Thereafter he sold this founding stake at Empiricus to remaining partners, as well as his state at asset management to Gradual Investimentos to fully focus on high-frequency trading strategies.

He is a Professor at the Economics School of Fundação Getúlio Vargas, lecturing on Non-Gaussian Finance for the Masters of Economics program and at Ibmec/SP, where he taught corporate valuation techniques.
