Who is Maurice Newman?
Maurice Lionel Newman AC until March 2012 was the Chairperson of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, as well as former chair of the board of the Australian Stock Exchange. He was Chancellor of Macquarie University until 2008. He was replaced as Chair of the ABC Board by Mr James Spigelman AC QC who took up the Chair on 1 April 2012. Currently, he is the chairman of the Prime Minister's Business Advisory Council. His views are generally considered conservative.
