Who was Paul Ogden Lawrence?

Sir Paul Ogden Lawrence was an eminent barrister and judge. He was educated at Malvern College, Worcestershire He was appointed a member of the Privy Council of the United Kingdom in 1926. Sir Paul's sisters Penelope, Dorothy, and Millicent founded Roedean School; their Lawrence great aunts had been governesses and school teachers, mainly in Liverpool, earlier in the century.

He was the second son of Philip Henry Lawrence, solicitor, later barrister, of Chelsea, London, whose mother was Frances S. Ogden, the youngest child of a well known New Jersey legal family, her father being Abraham Ogden. Susan Lawrence, the Labour politician, was his first cousin.
