Who is Randy Bennett?
Randy Bennett is an American college basketball coach and the current head men's basketball coach at Saint Mary's College of California. Bennett has led the Gaels to a 263-125 record in his 12 years as head coach. Despite the dominance of Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference, Bennett has made Saint Mary's into arguably the top conference team with several 2nd place finishes and three NCAA tournament appearances, culminating in regular season conference championships in 2011 and 2012, as well as WCC tournament championship in 2010 and 2012.
Given this success, Bennett has been linked to several coaching jobs in higher profile conferences in recent years, most recently at California, Hawaii, Oregon State, Oregon, and Utah of the Pac-12.
Bennett is currently signed at Saint Mary's through 2021.
Prior to accepting the head coaching position at Saint Mary's, Randy Bennett was the top assistant at Pepperdine and St. Louis under current University of Washington head basketball coach Lorenzo Romar.
