Who is Roman Skrypin?
Román Skrýpin – Ukrainian media-manager, famous journalist, TV anchor, Chief of the Ukrainian Independent media union.
He was born on 27 May 1973 in Poltava, in the Ukrainian SSR of the Soviet Union. He is married and has a daughter.
Roman graduated from Kiev University, The institute of Journalism.
1990 – journalist – trainee “Komsomolets Poltavshyny” newspaper
1991-1992 – journalist, “Ukraina moloda” newspaper
1992-1993 – freelancer, “Gart” studio, Ukrainian television
1993-1995 – journalist, Center of the creative television
1995-1996 - co-owner, journalist- producer – private firm “Agency of producers”
1996-1998 – reporter, chief – editor of the news block, news anchor “Dobrogo ranku, Ukrayina”, UTN, Ukrainian television.
Since September 1998, Roman has been working as the anchor – editor of the “Vikna. Press digest” TV program, STB TV channel.
Since January, 1999 - he has been working as chief and anchor of the “Vikna. At the midnight” and “Mediaclub”, TV programs, STB channel. Due to the total political censorship on Ukrainian TV channels as far as on STB also, Roman had to left in 2002.
Since 2002 – journalist of the “Hromads'ke radio”
During the parliamentary proceedings, which were dedicated to the situation of the freedom of speech in Ukraine, Roman had appeared with his colleague Andriy Shevchenko. Roman state authoritatively about impermissibility of the censorship and brought an accusation against then existing president Leonid Kuchma, that he is the one and the first who made such unbearable conditions, when the journalist can’t work by specialty.
