Who is Sam Walls?
Sam Walls is a former Republican primary candidate for the Texas state legislature for the 58th district, in the 2004 election. Walls, considered a community pillar and highly respected among residents and fellow Republicans, gained national attention when he was revealed wearing a dress, high heels and wig, while accompanying his wife, Kay. The cross-dressing incident prompted adversaries and some supporters to urge him to withdraw from the race.
Walls did not withdraw from the race, but lost to underdog candidate real-estate developer Rob Orr. Orr got 60% of the vote, and won a seat in the legislature in the highly conservative district.
