Who is Shannon Hurn?
Shannon William Hurn is an Australian rules footballer, currently listed with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League.
Hurn was selected in the 2005 AFL Draft and was listed by the West Coast Eagles. Hurn, born in South Australia, passed up a 2005–2006 rookie contract with the Southern Redbacks to focus on his AFL career.
Hurn has a mature body for his age and was he drafted at 187 cm and 93 kg. Following bulking up in the preseason, he is estimated to now weigh in at 100 kg, making him one of the bulkiest rookies to have ever entered the AFL. He made his debut versus the Brisbane Lions in April 2006, kicking a stunning long goal.
He was the Round 11, 2007 NAB Rising Star Award nominee, chosen for his consistently good performances throughout the season in such a top side.
He is now widely regarded to have the most penetrating kick in the AFL.
