Who was Sir Thomas Barrington, 2nd Baronet?

Sir Thomas Barrington, 2nd Baronet was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1621 and 1644.

Barrington was the son of Sir Francis Barrington, 1st Baronet and his wife Joan Cromwell. He was knighted at about 1621. In 1621 Barrington was elected Member of Parliament for Newtown. He was re-elected for the constituency in 1624, 1625, 1626 and 1628 and sat until 1629 when King Charles decided to rule without parliament for eleven years. In 1628, he succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his father.

In April 1640 Barrington was elected MP for Essex in the Short Parliament. He was elected MP for Colchester for the Long Parliament in November 1640 and sat until his death in 1644.

Barrington married firstly in around 1605, Francis Gobert, daughter of John Gobert. He married secondly Judith Lytton, daughter of Sir Rowland Lytton. He had one son, John Barrington by his first wife.
