Who is Tate Taylor?
Tate Taylor is an American actor, screenwriter, film producer and director.
He was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. He is a close friend of writer Kathryn Stockett, whom he has known since they were in preschool together in Jackson.
Taylor worked for 15 years in New York and Los Angeles. As of 2011 he lives on Wyolah Plantation in Jefferson County, Mississippi.
He debuted as a feature film director in Pretty Ugly People. He also directed the film The Help, based on Stockett's novel The Help. She gave him rights to make the film adaptation in June 2008, before the book was published.
He is set to direct Get on Up, a biopic on the singer James Brown starring Chadwick Boseman, due out for release on October 17, 2014.
