Who is Tecpancaltzin?
Tecpancaltzin was the eighth Toltec chief. He married a woman named Xochitl, who showed him how to extract pulque from the heart of the maguey plant. This discovery and their relationship, however, led to the ruin of the Toltecs, according to Toltec legend, as these were blamed for the string of famines, pest infestations, and invasions that followed.
Tecpancaltzin was succeeded by Topiltzin-Meconetzin, the last chieftain.
