Who is Ted Tynan?
Timothy "Ted" Tynan is an Irish politician. He is member of Cork City Council and a member of the Workers' Party of Ireland.
Tynan contested local elections again in 1999 and 2004 when he increased his vote significantly and narrowly failed to win a seat.
In the June 2009, Tynan was elected to Cork City Council again, on the final count in the Cork City North East ward. He unsuccessfully contested the Cork North–Central constituency in the 2011 Irish general election. He is a member of Cork City council's Housing, Recreation and Environment committees.
On 1 May 2013, gardaĂ arrested five members of the Campaign Against Home and Water Taxes, including Tynan and fellow Cork City Councillor Mick Barry, during a midday protest inside the Patrick Street branch of the Bank of Ireland in the city. People gathered on the street. Cllr Tynan said he felt a need to stand up against austerity.
