Who is Tony Hall, Baron Hall of Birkenhead?
Anthony William Hall, Baron Hall of Birkenhead, CBE, more commonly known as Tony Hall, has been Director-General of the BBC since 2 April 2013.
He was formerly Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, from 2001 until March 2013, having spent his earlier career at the BBC, where he became Director of News in 1993. Hall became a crossbench member of the House of Lords on 22 March 2010.
