Who is Viator of Lyons?
Viator of Lyons is a French saint of the fourth century. The Clerics of Saint Viator take their name from him. According to tradition, he was a lector or a catechist at the cathedral of Lyons, and was held in high esteem by the bishop of Lyons, Justus, and by the congregants. After Justus decided to live as a hermit in Egypt in 381, Viator accompanied him. They died at Scetes in 389 AD; Viator survived the bishop by a few weeks.
Their relics were translated to Lyon and buried in the church of the Machabees.
