Who was Victor Levasseur?
Count Victor Levasseur was a Général, Noble and a Knight of the Legion of Honor of the First Empire of France under Napoleon I Bonaparte, Emperor of the French.
On May 16, 1800, Count Levasseur was made Général of the 2nd brigade of the 4th Corps of the Grand Army.
Count Levasseur distinguished himself in battle at Iéna and his brigade participated in the encirclement and the decisive breakthrough at Austerlitz which saw the battle turn in Napoleon's favour.
In 1809, Marshal Masséna took command of the IV Corps. Count Levasseur then distinguished himself at the Battle of Eylau and was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur.
