Who is Yoshihide Muroya?
Yoshihide Muroya is a Japanese aerobatics pilot and race pilot of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. He started glider flight training in 1991 because it was an inexpensive way to fly. Yoshi went to America privately to earn his airplane license at the age of twenty. He saw the large scale of the airplane industry in America with his own eyes and as a result, it had a substantial influence on his later life.
After that, he worked long hours to earn enough money to get his training in America for a period of two months a year. At the same time, he continued glider training in Japan and learned long-distance flight techniques in Australia. In 1995, he decided on becoming a highly skilled world class pilot.
In 2009 he participated in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship as first Japanese and first Asian pilot. Special Team Mate Robert Fry joined as Team coordinator. He set up his plan concentrating on mastering the basic racing skills over the first half of the season. The plan worked well with positive improvements in performance. In the final race in Barcelona, Spain he took 6th place earning positive acclaim.
Until now, he has held some 170 air-shows over 12 years without incident. He will continue to strive for excellence in airmanship at the highest level. Also to make sky sports as more popular participation sports for more people, by making himself as a bridge between ground and sky.
