Who is David Rolsky?
David J. Rolsky is an American author, computer programmer, and pro-animal activist. He is active in the Perl programming community, and has made many contributions to the Moose OO framework for Perl. He has co-written two Perl-related books published by O'Reilly & Associates: Embedding Perl in HTML with Mason and RT Essentials. In 1998 he co-founded Compassionate Action for Animals, a nonprofit group whose stated goal is to reduce the suffering of farmed animals.
Rolsky is a frequent speaker at events related to the Perl programming language, including YAPC::NA 2011, YAPC::Europe 2010, Italian Perl Workshop 2009, and the Frozen Perl conference series. In 2008 Rolsky was featured in Code-a-thon Decoded, a television program about Perl and the free software movement that aired on Current TV.
