Who is Eduard Folayang?
Eduard Folayang is a Filipino mixed martial artist and wushu practitioner. He is the reigning welterweight champion of the Universal Reality Combat Championship, the biggest mixed martial arts promotion in the Philippines and also signed as a lightweight in ONE Fighting Championship, a Singapore based MMA promotion.
Folayang is a member of Team Lakay Wushu in Baguio City which is also home to URCC pinweight champion Rey Docyogen, URCC flyweight champion Kevin Belingon and URCC Lightweight champion Honorio Banario.
Prior to joining Team Lakay Wushu, Folayang was a high school teacher in Mountain Province. The Baguio native made his first Martial Combat debut on June 17, 2010, defeating Slovakian fighter Egon Racz via guillotine choke early in the first round.
Folayang has won several international Wushu tournaments, including a gold medal at the 2011 South East Asian Games which he won with a spinning back kick KO in the final, a silver medal in the 2006 Doha Asian Games, and bronze medals in both the 2005 World Wushu Championship and the 2002 Busan Asian Games.
