Who was George Otto Wirz?
George Otto Wirz was the Roman Catholic titular bishop of Municipa and auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin.
Born in Monroe, Wisconsin, Wirz was ordained to the priesthood for the Madison Diocese on May 31, 1952. On December 10, 1977, he was appointed auxiliary bishop of the Madison Diocese and was ordained on March 9, 1978 retiring on February 10, 2004. Bishop Wirz was the founding rector of the Holy Name Seminary. He died in Madison, Wisconsin, aged 81.
