Who is Kiran Millwood Hargrave?

Kiran Millwood Hargrave is a poet and writer. She was born in London in 1990. She has been publishing poetry and short stories since 2009, when her short story ‘Art Lover’ was selected to appear in Forest Publication’s Book of Bedtime Stories. Since this, her poetry has appeared in magazines such as Orbis, Other Poetry, The New Writer and Agenda, the latter of which chose her as a featured writer in their Autumn 2012 issue.

Kiran’s first full collection, Last March, written to mark the centenary of Captain Scott’s final expedition, was launched in March 2012 by Pindrop Press. This was produced in association with the Scott Polar Research Institute.

In December 2010 she was commissioned by the Cambridge Shakespeare Conference to produce a collection of poetry based upon Shakespeare’s plays. This was an ekphrastic project with Cambridge University's Artist-in-Residence, Tom de Freston. This collection, entitled Scavengers, was launched in September 2011 at the CSC’s annual conference. Sir Trevor Nunn praised the collection and 'unique and totally contemporary'.

Kiran graduated from Cambridge University in 2011 and is currently living and writing in London. From September 2012, she will be undertaking an MSt at Oxford University.
