Who is Lohan Ratwatte?

Evindaa Lohan Ratwatte MP is a Member of Parliament representing the Kandy District. He is the son of General Anuruddha Ratwatte, ex acting Diyawadana Nilame and former Cabinet Minister. Lohan Ratwatte's grandfather Harris Leuke Ratwatte who was former Diyawadana Nilame of Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy, He was a member of the State Council in 1936 to 1947 for Kegalle and United National Party Member of Parliament for Mawanella 1947 to 1952.

Prior to entering parliament in 2010 he was a member of the Central Provincial Council.

In May 1997, Lohan Ratwatte was implicated in the shooting death of Papua New Guinean Rugby player Joel Pera but was subsequently released as insufficient witnesses came forward to provide evidence.

In 2001, during local elections, Lohan was again implicated in the shooting deaths of 10 Sri Lanka Muslim Congress supporters. He was again exonerated by courts for lack of evidence.
