Who is Peter Beaumont?
His Honour Judge Peter Beaumont CBE QC is a British barrister and retired judge.
He was called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1967 where he became a bencher in 2001. He took silk in 1986, and served as a Crown Court recorder from 1986 to 1989, and then became a circuit judge. He has sat at the Central Criminal Court since 1995. He was Common Serjeant of London from 2001 to 2004, and became Recorder of London in December 2004, following the sudden death of the previous Recorder, Michael Hyam. He retired as Recorder of London in February 2013 and was succeeded by Brian Barker.
Beaumont was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2013 New Years Honours.
