Who is Sir James Howe, 2nd Baronet?

Sir James Howe, 2nd Baronet was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1698 and to 1705.

Howe was the son of Sir George Grobham Howe, 1st Baronet of Berwick St Leonard, Wiltshire and his wife Elizabeth Grimston, daughter of Sir Harbottle Grimston, 2nd Baronet. His father had been MP for Hindon. He succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his father in 1676.

On 25 July 1698, Howe was elected Member of Parliament for Hindon. He held the seat until 13 May 1701 when he was unseated on petition. He was re-elected MP for Hindon on18 July 1702 and held the seat until 1705.

Howe died aged 66.

Howe married firstly Elizabeth Nutt, daughter of Edward Nutt of Nackington Kent in 1689. She died in 1691 and he married secondly Elizabeth Stratford, daughter of Henry Stratford of Halling Gloucester in August 1694.
