Who is Auguste Corteau?
Auguste Corteau is the pen name of the Greek author Petros Hadjopoulos. He was born in Thessaloniki, in 1979.
In addition to the fourteen novels, novellas and short stories collections he has published over the years, he has also worked extensively as a translator, and has translated into Greek numerous works by masters of prose such as Nabokov, Banville, Updike, Annie Proulx and Cormac McCarthy. The son of a mother who suffered from, and ultimately succumbed to, bipolar disorder, he has struggled with depression, publicizing his own experiences to raise awareness regarding the beneficial effects of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Highly active in social networking, he has often been described as controversial.
