Beth Comstock

Who is Beth Comstock?

Beth Comstock was named a corporate senior vice president and chief marketing officer in March 2008. She leads organic growth and innovation initiatives and the marketing, sales and communications functions. She is directing two new strategic efforts for GE: cross-business digital programs, focused first on consumer health; and the creation of a partnership network to extend the companys ecomagination environmental technologies. Comstock was named president, NBC Universal Integrated Media in December 2005. She oversaw television ad sales and led the companys digital strategy, business, content and distribution efforts. She also led both the marketing and research teams with efforts focused on new advertising innovations. Comstock previously served as chief marketing officer from 2003. In that role, she oversaw marketing and sales and was responsible for cross-business growth initiatives, including ecomagination and the Imagination Breakthrough innovations. Comstock also led the companys integrated communications, including the imagination at work brand campaign. Comstock has been a GE company officer since 1998, when she was named vice president of Corporate Communications. Previously, she served as senior vice president of Communications at NBC, and as vice president of NBC News Communications. She held a succession of publicity positions at CBS Entertainment, Turner Broadcasting, and NBC. She began her career in local television production in Virginia. Comstock serves as a trustee of the Smithsonian Institutions Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. She is a graduate of the College of William and Mary. She and her husband have two daughters.
