Who was Charles René Dominique Sochet, Chevalier Destouches?
Charles René Dominique Sochet, Chevalier Destouches, also sometimes spelled Des Touches, was a rear admiral in the French Navy. He is most widely known for his participation in the War of American Independence, where he saw action in the Battle of Cape Henry in 1781, and the decisive Battle of the Saintes in 1782.
