Claude Sionnest was a French naturalist. Born in a family which had traded as pharmacists for two centuries Claude Sionnest had an early interest in natural sciences. After having served four years in the infantry, he became commandant de bataillon during The Terror. After 9 Thermidor year II, he took charge of the police force in Lyon. In year VI, he was named “physicien entomologiste’’ within the Société de santé
