Who was Émile Descombes?
Émile Descombes was a French pianist and teacher.
Little is known about his life, except that he is variously described as an associate or disciple of Frédéric Chopin, and possibly even one of his last pupils.
He taught at the Paris Conservatoire, where his students included Maurice Ravel, Erik Satie, Alfred Cortot, Gabriel Jaudoin, Reynaldo Hahn, Édouard Risler and Joseph Morpain.
