He was a right-handed pitcher who worked in 286 games in Major League Baseball between 1955 and 1967 for the Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds and Houston Astros. Nicknamed "Bear," he was listed at 5 feet 11 inches tall and 190 pounds.
