Who is Lawrence Sherman?
Lawrence W. Sherman is an experimental criminologist and the founder of "evidence-based policing." Since 2007 he has been the Wolfson Professor of Criminology and from 2012 the Director of the Cambridge Institute of Criminology at Cambridge University. The founding director of the Jerry Lee Centre for Experimental Criminology in 2008, he also serves as Director of the Cambridge Police Executive Programme. A Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland's Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice in College Park, Sherman’s primary research contributions have focused on crime prevention, evidence based policy, restorative justice, police practices and experimental criminology.
