Who is Sergei Gonchar?
Sergei Viktorovich Gonchar is a retired Russian professional ice hockey defenseman. Gonchar participated in the National Hockey League as a member of the Montreal Canadiens, the Ottawa Senators, the Dallas Stars, the Washington Capitals, the Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins- with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2009. Between 2015 and 2020 Gonchar contributed to the Penguins' organization as, first a consultant to the defensive unit, than a full-time assistant coach. He was let go as an active coach at the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season.
