Who is Sergey Verlin?

Sergey Verlin is a Russian sprint canoer who competed in the mid-to-late 1990s. He won a bronze medal in the K-4 1000 m event at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

Verlin also won seven medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with four golds, two silvers, and a bronze.

After retiring, Verlin went into politics, standing as a candidate for the United Russia party of Vladimir Putin. Since 2004 he has been a coach of the Russian national kayak squad.
