Stephen Batchelor

Who is Stephen Batchelor?

Stephen James Batchelor is a former field hockey player, who was a member of the golden winning British squad at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Four years earlier, at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, he captured the bronze medal with his team.

In 1988 he set up Sean Kerly in the final against West-Germany. Batchelor played international hockey for twelve years. He ended his career after the 1992 Summer Olympics. He is currently teaching at Cranleigh School, and coaches the U14 boys hockey team as well as the first tennis team. He was recently appointed Deputy Head of Loveday House as well as Head of Administrations. He currently lives with his four children and wife in the Surrey School. He is also a tutor to a few lucky ones each year. His tutees, 2009-2012, state that he is a supportive, helpful, caring individual who really cares about his tutees. This care was especially shown though his dedication to support them though their grieving, over the death of their dear friend and fellow pupil, Tilda Curran, who died of cancer aged just 15, in 2011.
