Who was William Arnall?
A political writer and journalist Following Walpole's fall from power, a parliamentary committee was set up and discovered that HM Treasury had paid £50,077 to authors and printers of newspapers between Feb 10, 1731 and Feb 10 1741. Of this amount, Arnall alone apparently received £11,000 over a four year period or his pro-government pieces.
