Who is Wylie Gibbs?
Wylie Talbot Gibbs was an Australian politician. Born in Queensland, he was educated at Ipswich Boys' Grammar School and the University of Queensland before becoming a doctor and grazier. He was a doctor with the Royal Flying Doctor Service 1947-48 and was a house surgeon in London, England, 1949-51. From 1953-64 he was a surgeon in Ipswich and Brisbane. In 1963 he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Liberal member for Bowman, defeating Labor member Jack Comber. He held the seat until his defeat in 1969, after which he became Executive Director of the Australian Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers' Association.
