Who is Brett Hoebel?

Brett Hoebel, also called "El Capitan" is a fitness expert and was a trainer on the U.S. television show the Biggest Loser season 11. He coached the majority of the contestants on the Red Team that season and was touted as one of the "Unknown Trainers" with a Mixed Martial Arts background. After his role on Biggest Loser, he was subsequently chosen to be one of the health experts on the Food Network TV show Fat Chef, which follows overweight chefs in their struggles to lose weight over a four-month period. Hoebel has worked with models Karolina Kurkova and Veronica Webb, and actresses Emmy Rossum and America Ferrera.

As the founder of Hoebel Fitness and an international fitness expert, Brett Hoebel is one of the most sought-after weight-loss, nutrition and lifestyle coaches in New York. His integrative philosophy and body-mind approach come from his diverse experience in Eastern and Western disciplines, including his martial arts training in Afro-Brazilian capoeira and Muay Thai kickboxing, as well as his educational background in functional strength training, nutrition, yoga and holistic health. He was a pre-med student at Claremont McKenna College, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a dual major in psychology and biology. He later furthered his education taking graduate courses in biomedical science at Rutgers University.
