Who is Gary Allen?
Gary Allen is a former all-star and award winning running back in the Canadian Football League and the National Football League.
A graduate of University of Hawaii, where he rushed for 1000 yards twice, Allen was drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1982. He ended up playing 8 games with the Oilers and 22 games with the Dallas Cowboys over 3 seasons, mostly returning punts and kickoffs. Canada beckoned in 1986, and he had his best year, leading the league in rushing and being named an all-star, rushing for 1153 yards. He rushed for another 857 in 1987 and returned punts both years. His performance fell off in 1988, with only 100 rushing yards, and he finished his career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
