Who is Pido Jarencio?

Alfredo Jarencio, better known as Pido Jarencio, is a former Filipino professional basketball player. He played college ball for the University of Santo Tomas, before moving on to play professional basketball in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Jarencio played for San Miguel, Presto, Purefoods, Swift, Ginebra/Gordon's Gin, and Tanduay during his PBA career. He was a member of the Gordon's Gin Boars who won the 1997 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals against the Alaska Milkmen. Known as "The Fireman", Jarencio distinguished himself as one of the league's best three-point shooters, especially in clutch situations.

Jarencio is currently the head coach of the UST Growling Tigers Men's Senior Basketball team in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines since 2006. In his first season as a head coach in 2006, he led the Growling Tigers to the UAAP title, beating the heavily favored Ateneo Blue Eagles 2–1. A title that has eluded his playing career with the Glowing Goldies. He led the Tigers to three UAAP Finals appearances and is one of the most popular UST basketball coaches of all-time, to the level of legendary coach Aric del Rosario.
