Who is Scott A. Snyder?
Scott A. Snyder is currently a senior fellow for Korea studies and director of U.S.-Korea policy program at the Council on Foreign Relations. From 2008 to 2011, he was an adjunct fellow of the CFR. Before he joined the CFR, from 2005 to 2006, he was a Pantech visiting fellow at Stanford University’s Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center. During 2000-04, he was a founder and director of the Center for U.S.-Korea Policy, as a senior associate in the international relations program of The Asia Foundation. At the same time, he was The Asia Foundation’s representative in Korea. He was also a senior associate at the Pacific Forum CSIS. In 1998-99, he received an Abe fellowship from the Social Sciences Research Council. In addition, at that time, he worked as an Asia specialist at the U.S. Institute of Peace regarding the research and studies program, and was an acting director of contemporary affairs program at Asia Society.
Snyder received a Bachelor’s degree from Rice University and an Master’s degree from Harvard University. He was a Thomas G. Watson fellow at Yonsei University in South Korea.
