Who was Walter Weiß?
General Walter-Otto Weiß, also spelt Weiss, was a Wehrmacht High Command officer in the Second World War. In 1945 he became Commander in Chief of Army Group North on the Eastern Front. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade with Oak Leaves was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
