Who was William Collis Meredith?
Sir William Collis Meredith, Kt., Q.C., D.C.L. was Chief Justice of the Superior Court for the Province of Quebec. He was the founding partner of the firm Meredith, Bethune & Dunkin of Montreal, who between 1836 and 1849 had brought together the largest legal business then recorded in the history of the Province of Quebec. The home he commissioned in 1843 at Montreal still stands today, known as the Notman House.
