Who was Willye Dennis?
Willye F. Clayton Dennis was a librarian, civil rights activist and Florida state legislator.
Dennis was born in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1978, she founded Fam-Co Learning and Development Center, a non-profit child daycare center. The agency would go on to provide additional counseling services for unwed mothers and at risk teenagers. Over the years to come, Fam-Co won national praise, but Dennis' fraudulent use of Fam-Co monies eventually caused her to be convicted of felony charges, resulting in her being forced out of office.
